Sustainability Manager
As Sustainability Manager, you will focus on advancing sustainability initiatives across the organization, ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations, and driving efforts to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to build innovative solutions that align with global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
Your responsibilities
- Coordinate and handle global sustainability reporting in compliance with applicable standards, guidelines and frameworks (e.g. GRI, CDP, EcoVadis, CoP UN Global Compact, CSRD, TCFD, SBTi)
- Work with external auditors and consultants to verify sustainability data and ensure it aligns with accepted standards
- Support the sustainability and corporate communications teams in preparing content for the company’s sustainability website, reports, and investor communications
- Stay current on evolving sustainability reporting regulations, trends, and standards, ensuring the organization remains compliant and competitive
- Analyse and review quarterly and annual environmental data at the corporate level and create transparency regarding KPI performance
- Develop and maintain data systems for tracking environmental performance metrics, conducting sustainability audits, and analyzing sustainability KPIs to support decision-making
- Support in increasing internal engagement, awareness and commitment to sustainability through ideation campaigns, communication on activities / initiatives, training, exchange between sites and sites / global
- Engage closely with key global customers to explain our sustainability strategy, follow up on their requests and respond to their individual queries and needs
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., material development, procurement, HR) and external stakeholders (e.g., suppliers, customers) to drive sustainability initiatives
- Support in reducing supply chain emissions through e.g. scope 3 emissions assessments, product carbon footprints, life cycle assessments, eco-design
- Launch environmental programs and lead teams to e.g. minimize waste, responsible use of resources, initiate renewable energy assessment
Our requirements
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, corporate social responsibility or a related field
- Expertise in ESG reporting frameworks, carbon footprint management, and global sustainability regulations
- Strong analytical and data management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data for diverse audiences
- Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment
- Passionate about sustainability and social responsibility
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Proficient in German and English (every additional language is a plus)
