Position Summary

To support the creation, negotiation and purchasing of non-standard products based on the customer demand, by working closely with the project buyer(s) in a fast paced environment providing internal and external quoting for sales, as well as interaction between the supplier and sales negotiation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pricing negotiation with suppliers for quotes and non-stocked products
  • RFQ turnaround from suppliers and measurement on conversion
  • Price, MOQ and lead time updates in line with agreed SLA
  • Build a strong relationship with internal sales organisations
Requirements/Detailed Tasks
  • Supporting and taking ownership of supplier negotiations to drive lower purchase prices to enable higher quote conversion rates
  • Managing customer RFQs in line with agreed SLAs
  • Creating products in ERP system to enable purchase and sales order creation
  • Supporting sales in chasing overdue and outstanding quotes
  • Effective management of follow-ups on quotes with internal sales team
  • Maintaining pricing under Service+ category
  • Building relationships with suppliers and sales to improve RFQ process and turnaround
  • Duties will also include Administration and maintenance and updating of spreadsheets/systems

Education
  • A levels or equivalent
Experience/Industry Knowledge
  • 1-2 years purchasing/procurement experience (desirable)
  • Experience of working in B2B environment (desirable)
  • Some experience/ knowledge as a negotiator (desirable)
Personal Competencies
  • Financial acumen – understanding of pricing (cost and sell) and impact on business margin
  • Strong verbal and written communication (internal and external)
  • Ability to influence and persuade others (internal and external)
  • Team player with a can do attitude
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Ability to build effective professional relationships with colleagues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and process orientated
