Summary / Objective

The Continuous Improvement Manager, known locally as the Datwyler Production System Manager is responsible to develop and execute continuous improvement projects for the assigned Site(s) and to collaborate with the DPS colleagues and other stakeholders globally. The position is situated in our facility at Middletown, Delaware. 

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Supports the Site Director (SD) and site Leadership Team (SLT) in deployment of the Datwyler Production System (DPS) in the plant through implementation of global standards based on current condition, Datwyler values and strategy, and frequent communication between Head of DPS and site director.
  • Works together with Global DPS Team, SD and SLT to develop the site level implementation roadmap, manages the implementation activities, conducts internal DPS maturity assessment, and serves as ambassador and DPS enabler in the plant.
  • Ensures standardization of deployment approach by referring to Datwyler standards, Facilitates workshops and provides training and coaching to site team to assure employee qualification in DPS principles, methodologies and tools.
  • For this challenging role, liaise and work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and across all functions to foster the Continuous Improvement culture of Everyone, Every day, Everywhere.

Your Profile

  • Graduated/ Post graduated University in industrial, business or mechanical engineering
  • Profound experience of operation management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in implementing Lean Management, Production Management or/and Quality System Management in automotive, healthcare or consumer goods industry
  • Must have demonstrated success in development and implementation of CI and/or lean management activities
  • Well experienced in Lean principles and methodologies
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies
  • Training/facilitation skills and ability to lead and work with ‘People’
  • A positive attitude, the ability to convince people, to cope with great complexity, and a willingness to take on challenges
  • Flexibility and willingness to sporadic travel
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good English skills in an intercultural environment are essential
  • Both leadership and teamwork skills that allow to express in a tone appropriate for stakeholders from all hierarchy levels and educational / cultural backgrounds, when assessing their work output and providing them with direction
  • Able to builds relationships of trust with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, and wins them over by expressing a positive attitude, professional expertise in Lean and continuous improvement process, and strong organisational skills

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The  position requires moving about as much as 60% of the workday in and throughout the plant; and the occasional lifting of up to 50  pounds.  This position can require occasional squatting, stooping, bending or crouching.  Use of computer involves some repetitive motion.  Business needs require that the employee in this position work an established 40-hour workweek and on occasion work additional hours outside of the standard schedule.
