Finance Manager

Management of Department
•Manages and Oversees all aspects of Accounting Department
• Ensures proper internal controls are applied throughout the finance department; actively investigates any variance to established procedures and takes decisive and timely action to maintain proper flow of all accounting/finance activities
• Supports a variety of administrative functions including insurance carriers, bank relationships, and others as appropriate
• Supports annual tax return preparation and annual financial audit activity
• Hires, trains, develops, and appraises department staff effectively
• management of department personnel: coaching, feedback and performance management
• Ensures department staff work aligns with business needs and strategic goals
• Ensures department staff are trained on procedures in compliance with their training plan
• Consults with Human Resources as appropriate
•Works with colleagues locally, and globally as needed to provide support and analysis of US and Group Finance and Accounting issues
• Assigns and monitors progress toward completion of department projects

Cost Accounting

• Maintain, design and implement Cost Accounting functions as required for maintenance of accurate records
• Develop and prepare the quarterly forecasts and midrange plan. Participate in periodic reviews of the forecast to assist Sales, Operations and the Site Director/VP in analyzing annual progress against forecast
• Maintains current knowledge of State/Federal regulations. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advises management of actions and potential risks. Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met
• Interpret the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
• Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances
• Assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction
•Master use of standard cost accounting concepts to analyze and support operational performance

Your Responsibilities

• Works effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships
• Demonstrated strong management skills and experience with professional, skilled and unskilled workforce
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects, meet deadlines and communicate effectively in a frequently flexible and quick moving environment
• Effective written and verbal communication skills. English fluency (verbal and written) necessary to perform the position effectively
•Able to provide direction, training and guidance to all direct and indirect reports
• Strong computer software proficiency; particularly MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel. For Excel, an intermediate level of proficiency is required. Experience with SAP ERP systems is a must.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on the needs of a 24/7 operation which may require working extended hours, additional workdays and work weeks of more than 40 hours
• Willingness to work in a fluid environment where lean staffing requires the existence of “fuzzy borders” between functional responsibilities and the ability to take on interdepartmental projects where the Controller’s skills may be most effective
• Strong working knowledge of all ledger functions, accounting principles (including US GAAP) and cash flow
• Understanding of basic business principles and the ability to assist the Site Director/VP of Operations in detailed business analysis aimed at dramatically increasing company profitability
• Strong working knowledge of cost accounting, coupled with the ability to complete and improve SAP S4 implementation

Required Qualifications

• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance, or Economics
• 3-7 years’ experience in a finance department for a manufacturer with increasing supervisory and departmental management responsibilities
• Experience in application of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
• Strong understanding of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
• Experience managing in a unionized environment
• Experience in a GMP environment
• Experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
• Excellent PC skills including MS Office Word, Excel and Access

There is also periodic exposure to cold (e.g., on warehouse floor). Personal protective equipment must be worn where required. Depending on work location, closed toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves or protection from high noise levels is needed. To ensure products satisfy the required quality levels and that operations are consistently efficient and effective, employees must
wear protective clothing such as a uniform, coverall, frock, hair net, beard cover, etc. in certain areas of the facility.VISION: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.HEARING: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
