Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day running of production processes in the assigned area. This position will plan and organize staff tasks and shifts, appraise performance, coach, counsel and discipline staff as needed. The Production Supervisor will enforce systems, policies and procedures, track and report on KPI’s and will partner with other departments such as, quality, safety and human resources to ensure compliance in his/her assigned areas.

Essential Functions

Essential Function - Supervision of Department Staff

• Oversees all production employees within assigned department(s)/shift, including motivating and disciplining. Assigns and directs work, provides coaching, evaluates performance, and conducts appraisals; ensures effective labor relations. Establishes and maintains an ethical and non-discriminatory work environment. Develops and sustains effective communication channels and manages conflict effectively. Ensures the Department Shift achieves objectives related to quality, productivity, and safety. Consults with Human Resources as necessary. Works efficiently and fosters positive relationships with superiors, colleagues, and individuals both within and outside the Company. Demonstrates professionalism in interactions with others and promotes constructive working relationships. Maintains punctuality and consistent attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Function - Productivity of Assigned Department(s)/Shift

• Ensures the department/shift meets Productivity KPIs by standardizing output and maintaining adequate staffing levels. Guarantees customer orders are processed according to scheduled shipment dates. Collaborates with Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure proper operation of production equipment and minimize downtime. Ensures timely completion and submission of daily production output reports to the Production Manager. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Function - Safety Compliance

• Ensures the department adheres to all safety rules and procedures, as well as maintains good housekeeping practices within the plant, in alignment with SOPs, work instructions, and GMPs. Reports unsafe to the Department Manager and Safety Manager. Notifies Department Manager and Safety Manager of all incidents, accidents, and near misses.

Essential Function - Quality Assurance

• Ensures that self and department staff perform tasks the boundaries of quality guidelines. Reports any deviations or non-conformances.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to elements including environmental heat and high heat from moving mechanical parts, small parts may be encountered on the floor, and dust particles may float in the air.  Work is done in both office space and in the plant where safety is a critical concern.  PPE must be worn.

Work conditions are those that are present in normal manufacturing environment.

This position requires moving about as much as 95% of the workday in and throughout the assigned production area; frequently walking up and down stairs and the occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. This position can require occasional squatting, stooping, bending or crouching. Use of computer involves some repetitive motion. Business needs require that the employee in this position work an established 40-hour workweek and on occasion work additional hours outside of the standard schedule. Work is done in the plant where safety is a critical concern. Personal protective equipment must be worn including safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and/or protection from high noise levels. Wear protective clothing such as a uniform, over suit, hair net, beard cover, etc. must also in designated areas. Workday flexibility. VISION: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.  HEARING: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Your Profile

This is a full-time position, and hours are dependent on Shift allocation.

Required Education and Experience

Three years related supervisory experience.

• Labor relations experience preferred.

• BS/BA preferred.

• Technical skills to include machine start-up and corrective actions.

• Lean Manufacturing Certification preferred.
