POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the coordination and purchase of all raw materials, supplies, capital equipment and contract services for all departments within Datwyler Pharma Inc.  The Supply Chain Manager will also be responsible for acting as Datwyler’s internal expert regarding transportation issues (shipping, import/export, forwarding agents, etc.), and as such, managing the flow of products and raw materials to and from Datwyler Pharma.  Additionally, the Supply Chain manager will work closely with sales and production departments to ensure efficient, on-time product shipments.  Finally, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for supervising the Planning, Shipping/warehouse personnel and Purchasing departments.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Operations Support & Supply Chain

  • Supports local operation in Procurement, Planning & Shipping/Receiving.      
  • Leads daily Operation's meeting with functional department heads, Production, Maintenance/Engineering, Tooling, Quality, DPS (Datwyler Production System).
  • Manages and leads Customer On-Time/In-Full (OTIF) customer order delivery tracking, performance & reporting.
  • Acts as trusted advisor to colleagues.
  • Manages and oversees the full supply chain cycle locally beginning with Purchasing and ending with customer delivery, on time and in full (OTIF).
  • Manages the flow of product and raw materials to and from SUSP.

 

Procurement

  • Leads and manages Procurement Agent(s) in the procurement of local raw materials, consumables, spare parts, and equipment.  The management of uniform vendors is included.
  • Oversees purchasing and ensures that multiple requests for quotation are received and the best overall value is selected for the company.
  • Provides oversight in developing and negotiating major purchase agreements for materials, supplies, capital equipment and contract services and provides final approval for those purchases that fall within the defined spending limits of the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Keeps constantly apprised of economic and business situations (raw material prices, commodity prices, petroleum prices, customer supply agreements, etc.) as they affect purchasing practices; makes decisions and adjustments to tactics and strategy to address those changing situations

                       

Production Planning

  • Leads and manages Production Planner(s) to ensure efficient Compound scheduling (Mixing), Press scheduling (Production) and commercial customer order scheduling.
  • Works closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Production departments to ensure efficient, on-time product shipments.

 

Shipping & Receiving (Warehouse)

  • Leads and manages Shipping Supervisor to ensure Raw Material receiving & storage, and Finished Good's storage.
  • Works closely with shipping department to ensure efficient, on-time customer order shipments.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that all areas of responsibility (Planning, Purchasing, and Warehouse-Shipping/Receiving) complies with all safety rules and procedures, as well as good housekeeping within the plant, in accordance with SOPs, work instructions, and GMPs.

 

  1. Responsible for the coordination and purchase of all raw materials, supplies, spare parts,  equipment and contract service.  Act as internal expert regarding transportation issues (shipping, import/export, forwarding agents, etc.), and manage the flow of products and raw materials to and from Datwyler.  Work closely with sales and production departments to ensure efficient, on-time product shipments.

 

  1. Leads daily Operation's meeting with functional department heads, Production, Maintenance/Engineering, Tooling, Quality, DPS (Datwyler Production System).
  2. Monitor critical KPIs to ensure that functional departments are performing to standard and inventory levels are at expected levels (ie. OTIF - Customer Delivery, OPAR - Customer Order Lead times, Finished Goods and Raw Material inventory).

 

  1. Work closely with global Lead Buyers to keep apprised of economic and business situations (raw material prices, commodity prices, petroleum prices, customer supply agreements, etc.) as they affect purchasing practices; makes decisions and adjustments to tactics and strategy to address those changing situations. 

 

 

Your Profile

  • 6-10 Years of increasingly responsible positions in the fields of Purchasing and/or materials management in a manufacturing environment.  Experience in areas of the manufacturing supply process stream (ie. Operations, Shipping) a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred
  • Ability to drive results, drive change, business understanding and teamwork
  • Proficiency in use of computer software including MS Word and Excel and SAP.
  • Working knowledge in Lean Manufacturing principles.

Physical requirements

The work of this position requires sitting as much as 70% of the workday, and using force to lift, push or pull between 35 and 50 pounds.  Frequently, the work requires climbing, balancing, standing, pulling, full range of motion and ability to tactile analyze, grasping, talking, and reaching during the process of investigating safety issues.  Use of computer involves some repetitive motion.  Specific vision requirements include close vision, particularly for viewing a computer terminal.
