Position Summary
Performs functions to design molds and fixtures using 3D CAD software. Determines and establishes specifications through engineering calculations and layouts. Communicates with vendors to obtain information and assistance. Communicates with customer engineers and co-workers to develop and improve designs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design transfer and injection molds for rubber parts.
- Design tooling, EDM electrodes and fixtures required to support manufacturing.
- Confer with customer engineers to develop mold design.
- Confer with co-worker technical staff to develop and improve designs.
- Prepares 3D part models, assemblies and detailed drawings.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or TRAINING
- Two years minimum of experience in rubber and/or plastic mold design preferred.
- Experience with SolidWorks is required. Other CAD software experience is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred, but not required.
- Experience on shop floor operating CNC milling and turning centers is a plus.
- Experience as a machinist/mold maker is a plus.
- A college degree in Engineering / Engineering Technology is preferred, but not required.
High school diploma required
