POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager plans, organizes and directs daily operations of the Quadra Tooling facility to meet company objectives for scheduling, project management, productivity, customer satisfaction and economic goals by performing the following duties personally and/or through subordinates.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and directs production activities and established production priorities for deliverable products in keeping with effective operations, cost factors and on-time delivers.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities caused by resource constraints, equipment failure, operating problems, staffing issues, and/or changes in customer priorities.  Reports schedule changes to all stakeholders including internal teams and customers.
  • Develops, documents, and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating issues and improve product quality.
  • Train and coach employees to achieve company goals and standards. Writes employee performance reviews and conducts performance review meetings with subordinates. Leads the hiring and training process for new employees in the department.  Manages the professional development of department staff members
  • Utilize statistical tools and total quality management processes to analyze, understand, and solve complex operations problems or barriers to success.  Assigns resources and deploys technical resources to resolve as needed.
  • Compiles, stores and retrieves production data both manually and through ERP systems.
  • Support site targets to meet/exceed KPIs, such as FTQ, QTIF, and profitability.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                 

  • All machinists, mold makers, and support staff.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a tooling or process environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a formal or informal leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field preferred
  • Experience in rubber and/or plastic rubber mold fabrication
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (separation of issues, special vs. common cause, identification of root cause, implementation of effective countermeasures)
  • Demonstrated leadership capability (getting things done through others)
  • Prioritizes activities to maximize positive impact to the business
  • Enjoys managing in a fast paced and demanding work environment

 

Language Skills:                                                

  • Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. 

 

Computer Skills:                  

  • Excellent understanding of keyboard, Monitor and Hard Drive, Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Teams, and Power Point as well as other Datwyler Business systems.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Employee will come in frequent contact with various types of machine oils, lubricants, silicone and latex. Employee must be able to safely operate a fork lift.
