Summary Objective

The General Manager is be responsible for all activities and business operations at the site by working closely with the functional leaders within the market. The role should also effectively coordinate the relevant activities within operations, engineering and sales functions at the site. Delivering sustainable profitable growth and a financial performance as per the company OKRs including both financial and operational excellence targets will be the key deliverables for this position. This will be achieved by the effective implementation of the wider General Industry strategy at the site.

Strategy Execution and Development:

  • Execute the agreed upon strategy of the BU General Industry at the site
  • Participation and leadership of certain ad hoc projects
  • Set up targets for the site teams in order to deliver the strategic initiatives and contribute to the company OKRs


Site management:

  • Responsible for the day to day running of the site across all functions, ensuring an exceptional customer experience
  • Maintain personal contact with key customers and suppliers of the site as required
  • Together with functional leadership within the GI BU in the Americas, prepare monthly reporting to review all metrics at the site
  • Together with finance, prepare and validate the site forecast


Commercial Processes:

  • Be the local champion of the BU commercial processes by implementing locally the CRM framework and method of operating
  • Together with the regional functional sales leadership, optimise and implement the required commercial processes at the site by utilising our CRM system.
  • Drive new business wins by ensuring an optimum level of customer service at the site with fast turnaround times of quotations
  • Work together with Business Unit Marketing and Product and Category functions to ensure the optimum go to market strategy for the site

Deployment OE/DPS/Agility:

  • Together with the regional functional operations leadership of GI, promote and deploy the DPS/OE and Agility programmes at the site
  • Improve on operational excellence and the maturity level of DPS
  • Apply DPS continuous improvement for cost optimisation/control, reduction of waste and to improve OE


People Development:

  • Lead, coach and mentor the team to live the Datwyler values, embrace the leadership culture and improve employee satisfaction
  • Use the talent development tools to enhance skill levels, identify and coach talent
  • Ensure a talent pipeline for the site is in place by working together with regional HR leadership team members
  • Foster a diverse and engaged working environment, working within labour legislation and health and safety guidelines at all times
  • Be responsible for compliance with labour/employment, environmental and social regulations and laws as well as ensuring adherence to Datwyler internal guidelines

Key Success Factors

  • Successful execution of key initiatives linked to the strategic development of the BU in the Americas
  • Delivery of the growth in profitability of the site as per the strategic plan and regular forecasts
  • Continuously improve engagement levels at the site as measured in the employee surveys
  • Delivery of complex ad hoc projects as required
  • Achieve site and team targets related to relevant OKRs
  • Drive the sustainability agenda and contribute to companywide objectives

Your Profile

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in an engineering discipline and/or in Business Management (e.g. MBA)
  • Minimum 10 years experience in general management, commercial or operational roles
  • Experience in driving change management
  • Track record of delivering balanced sales growth, operational improvements and complex projects
  • Self-confident and a can do attitude, with excellent analytical skills
  • Make decisions based on data
  • High level of communication skills and empathy
  • Able to work with diverse and international teams
