Key Account Manager

The Key Account Manager is responsible to proactively manage the organization’s top customer accounts with the objective of maintaining and building effective relationships within all relevant departments.

Your Responsibilities

Account Maintenance and Development: The Key Account manager will contribute to the company’s efforts to maintain existing business and develop new business opportunities with multinational pharmaceutical customers. The Key Account Manager will mainly focus on key accounts in the U.S.

Industry Knowledge and Understanding: Strong understanding of the customer base, considerable awareness of the market, good knowledge and understanding of the complex cycle of drug and device development. The Key Account Manager will already have a substantial understanding of the industry and the major pharmaceutical companies and thorough understanding of the regulatory environment (FDA/MEA) in which the pharmaceutical industry operates.

Effective Account Planning: The position’s responsibilities will include effective account planning along with coordinating and managing customer’s needs and requests all while growing the market share through customer focused knowledge with internal support throughout all departments.

Sales Management: The Key Account Manager is responsible for the management of customer’s sales and projects with a strong focus on client service delivery, international business, technical and interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions

1. Maintain and grow existing business relationships in pharmaceutical, biotech and medical diagnostic markets.
2. Responsible for generating revenue and margin at a level that is sufficient to drive growth and sustain profitability.
3. Take personal responsibility for reaching and exceeding stated activity and performance goals for new business, expansion of existing business, revenue, gross profit, etc.
4. Establish and maintain account plans and road map for each key account.
5. Planning and delivering sales targets.
6. Align product and services to customer needs and market trends.
7. Develop and maintain effective customer relationships with all relevant departments (Purchasing, Marketing, Quality, Operations, R&D, etc.) establishing Datwyler Sealing Solutions as a strategic partner.
8. Negotiate price and contracts.
9. Ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
10. Lead customer, business and quality review meetings.
11. Work together with Marketing to analyze the market, build and maintain customer and competitor intelligence.
12. Establish sales forecasts, budgets, and mid-range plans.
13. Close cooperation with internal resources, including other regional KAM’s, Product Support, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operations.
14. Complies with established Quality Management System Policies and Procedures; verifies work for accuracy to ensure quality of output

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities

You are a professional with a Bachelor’s degree in either engineering, science or business with a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in business to business sales and account management.  You are willing to travel domestically and overseas and are motivated to achieve results.  You also have strong interpersonal and team-building skills as well as effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
