JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Helper maintains and repairs manufacturing facility, handling tasks like painting, basic plumbing & electrical repairs, and carpentry. They are versatile professionals responsible for diagnosing issues, performing upkeep on systems and equipment, and conducting installations, ensuring buildings remain functional and safe. This position also works

in accordance with his/her knowledge and training in conformance with established Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practice.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Performs facility upkeep including painting, basic plumbing and electrical repairs as well as carpentry work.

 

  1. Expected to adhere to all safety rules in accordance with SOP’s, GMP as well as federal, state and local safety regulations. 

 

  1. Regular attendance and punctuality required in order to meet production needs of customers.

 

  1. Expected to demonstrate our Company values and Code of Conduct.

 

  1. Periodically participates in department or quality team meetings. Suggests improvements and works alone or with others to implement improvements, as assigned.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Repairs: Fix plumbing (leaky faucets, toilets), minor electrical (lighting, switches, fans), drywall, and furniture.
  • Maintenance: Perform regular inspections, replace light bulbs, and perform HVAC filter changes.
  • Carpentry & Painting: Repair wood structures (fencing, decks), cabinetry, and paint interior/exterior surfaces.
  • Installation: Assemble furniture and install fixtures such as shelving, cabinets, or window blinds.
  • General Maintenance: Perform landscaping (mowing, trimming), gutter cleaning, and basic cleaning of shared spaces.
  • Safety & Reporting: Follow safety procedures, report major damage, and cleanup of work sites
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is usually preferred

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or GED equivalent is required
  • 2 years’ related experience
  • Licensure in the following a plus: forklift; plumbing; electrical or boiler operator

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to speak, read and write English in order to understand operating and other related procedures and to complete all position related documentation.
  • Mechanical and Electrical ability
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints
  • Ability to handle hazardous chemicals
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills.
  • Performs basic computer skills
  • Ability to learn and implement GMP, SOPs and other procedures.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing for prolonged periods of time (8+ hours, with scheduled breaks) with frequent bending and kneeling; lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs and pushing and pulling of 150lbs. Mechanics may also climb ladders and step stools.

 

Business needs require that the employee in this position work an established 40 hours workweek and work additional hours outside of the standard schedule as production needs arise.

 

Personal protective equipment must be worn where required. Depending on work location, closed toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves or protection from high noise levels in needed. To ensure products satisfy the required quality levels and that operators are consistently efficient and effective, employees must wear protection clothing such as company provided and maintained uniform, coverall, frock, hair net, beard cover, etc in certain areas of the facility.
