Product Development Manager (f/m/d)
Venture Unit Soft Sensing & Actuation


At Datwyler’s Venture Unit Soft Sensing & Actuation, you as Product Development Manager, will play a central role in turning next-generation soft actuators & sensors into market-ready products. You’ll bridge research and real-world application — developing prototypes, validating designs, collaborating with partners, and driving productization from concept to launch. This position combines hands-on technical work with strategic product development and customer interaction — perfect for a curious, cross-disciplinary engineer who loves bringing innovation to life.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop next-generation soft sensors and actuators for diverse applications and markets, exploring new materials, integration strategies, and performance capabilities
  • Design and prototype demonstrators that showcase performance and validate technology potential
  • Lead product development projects, from requirement definition and design to verification, documentation, and market readiness
  • Collaborate closely with customers, partners, and researchers to identify new opportunities, share insights, and co-create innovative solutions
  • Support customer projects with technical consulting, testing, and translating complex ideas into practical designs

 

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems Engineering or Microtechnology 
  • 3–5 years of experience in product development, ideally in soft robotics, sensors and actuators
  • Solid understanding of actuation and sensing principles, embedded systems and electromechanical integration
  • Experience with prototyping, testing and transitioning designs from lab-scale to production
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage internal and external development activities
  • A hands-on, solution-driven mindset with creativity and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills in English (mind. C1) and German is a plus
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%)
