Manager Application Engineer

Goal of the Role
As a Manager Application Engineer, you play a critical role in defining robust and cost-effective manufacturing concepts for elastomer products. By combining deep technical expertise with strong cross-functional leadership, you enable accurate quotations, ensure feasibility from concept to production, and support optimized manufacturing processes that meet customer and business requirements.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead the European team within the Global Concept & Costing organization

• Define manufacturing concepts and feasibility analyses from quotation through production

• Translate customer requirements into efficient, cost-effective elastomer manufacturing solutions

• Coordinate with Engineering, Materials, Design/Simulation, Costing, and Commercial teams

• Ensure cost efficiency of vulcanization and upstream/downstream processes

• Update and manage costing based on evolving specifications and requirements

• Participate in key product development milestones (kick-off, design reviews, validation, etc.)

• Collaborate with external suppliers to define production equipment and process specifications

• Work closely with prototyping, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure feasibility and quality compliance

What We’re Looking For

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials) or equivalent

• At least 5 years of experience in technical manufacturing roles, preferably in elastomer or plastics environments

• Strong knowledge of elastomer materials and manufacturing processes (compounding, compression/injection molding, post-curing, finishing)

• Solid understanding of tooling, processing, and manufacturing cost drivers

• Ability to read technical drawings; CAD/CAM experience is a plus

• Proven technical leadership and ability to coordinate cross-functional teams

• Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented mindset

• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

• Fluency in technical English (written and spoken)
