Purpose of the job

 

This position plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the necessary duties.

Key accountabilities

  • Generates quotes based off customer supplied part prints and requirements. Also creates quotes for replacement component(s), repair, modify jobs, often based off evaluation of mold. 
  • Create simplified cavity details for quote, cavity grids for all mold types
  • Assists production with determining production methods. Support with research of methods, outsource vendors, tooling options, etc.
  • Coordinates outsource jobs with preferred vendors with focus on delivery dates and scope of work.
  • Requests quotes and orders material and/or component(s) for all jobs.
  • Schedules and facilitates quote review meetings with management, design, and production, when needed. Offer alternate part designs to customers (internal) which can lead to reduced mold cost and/or lead-time.
  • Release of  REFERENCE ONLY prints to the shop for internal review.
  • Release of job from ERP software: gathering prints and matching them up with travelers, ensuring all material is allocated properly, every step required to manufacture component(s) is documented in the ERP system.
  • Scheduling and facilitating pre-release meetings with engineering and production, ensuring accuracy of job in ERP software, BOM from engineering, prints. 3) Release of job from ERP software, gathering prints and matching them up with travelers.
  • Liaison between remote designer(s) and shop, ensuring document control is not compromised.
  • Prepares shipped jobs on a weekly basis for management group for review, as well as follow up on any action items from previous weeks.

Knowledge, skills and experience

 

Minimum qualification required:        

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a tooling or process environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field preferred
  • Experience in rubber and/or plastic rubber mold fabrication preferred
  • Experience in quoting is required, quoting molds is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of machining experience required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (separation of issues, special vs. common cause, identification of root cause, implementation of effective countermeasures)
  • Prioritizes activities to maximize positive impact to the business

  • Mathematical Skills:   Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent and to interpret bar graphs. 

 

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. 

 

  • Computer Skills: Basic understanding of keyboard, monitor and hard drive, Microsoft Office Software, Excel and PowerPoint.
