Coating Specialist R&D

Location: Alken, Belgium

Job Summary:

As Coating Specialist R&D within our Global Materials and Surface Technologies Healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in supporting worldwide sales and manufacturing efforts. You will be responsible for continuously researching and developing new coating materials and concepts for surface treatments, while providing expertise and support to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Continuously search and develop new innovative coating materials and concepts for
  surface treatments
• Collaborate with external coating and process specialists to develop processes for surface treatments on lab equipment.
• Manage and coordinate testing in the Technology and Innovation labs.
• Develop and fine-tune coatings based on existing knowledge and provide expertise to support current coating technology.
• Engage in direct customer contact when specific coating expertise is required.
• Provide material and coating selection recommendations to customers for their new projects.
• Support the implementation of new coatings in production and provide expertise on material issues.
• Assist in root cause identification for quality and production-related concerns.
• Maintain coating-related documentation in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

Profile:

• Ph.D. level of working and thinking in Chemistry.
• (Post-)Doctoral research experience in organic coatings or working experience in coating development.
• Fluent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
• Proficiency in MS Office and company-specific software.
• Willingness to engage in low-frequency travel.

Working Environment:

You will be part of the global R&D group based in Alken, Belgium, working alongside a team of skilled coating specialists. Our R&D department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and supported by an extensive network of external research partners. You will collaborate closely with internal colleagues and external partners to coordinate project-based work using existing systems and reporting mechanisms.
